Caterpillars

Sunning themselves on a limestone rock, these tent caterpillars were in no hurry to move. Pretty sure these are tent caterpillars but somebody out there might be able to identify them more correctly. This was taken on the North Ridge road that overlooks Scioto Trails Park.

Turkey Vulture

Emilia and I went camping in Scioto Trails State Park for the Memorial Day Weekend. Beautiful, quiet campgrounds, another couple we know joined us for Saturday night.

While hiking one of the numerous trails through the state forest, a turkey vulture swooped very close and I was able to snap this shot. They have wingspans up to 72 inches and will eat almost anything. This shot is very similar to the one of the California Condo I took at the Grad Canyon 2 years ago. View that photo here.

Big Run Park

It was a very beautiful day and Emilia and I went for a walk in Big Run Park. This park is not even 1 mile away from us, but we have never been there. It is about 242 acres and is designated as a nature preserve. We walked around for a bit and on the way back saw this moth clinging to a couple blades of grass. He barely moved as I laid on the ground to get a nice shot of him. Not sure what type he is but very pretty.
