First off, why is Greenland covered in ice and Iceland is covered in green?

On the flight back to the USA from Frankfurt, Germany, our flight path took us over Greenland. This was taken from about 38,000 feet from our Airbus A300. It was a crystal clear day and was just amazed at the beauty below.
