Muscovy Duck

A male Muscovy duck at Grand Lake. Taken with the new Nikon D200. Muscovies live wild in South and Central America. And they’re raised on farms around the world — the only farm duck not descended from the mallard. Wild muscovies are black and white. Domestic ones are black, white, blue, even chocolate. Muscovies fly well, eat flies and weeds, and don’t quack. They only hiss or squeak,
and usually not too often.

Sun and Ice

The morning sun shines through ice on the eastern shore of Grand Lake in Saint Mary’s, Ohio. Just received my Nikon D200 and will be posting several photos as I learn the intricacies of this 800lb gorilla.

Court House Snow Storm

The Auglaize Court House during a very windy snow storm in early December, 2005. This was taken about 1AM. Not sure if I like this particular photo or not. The Christmas decorations on the clock tower are out of place on the building.

Chilled Robin

In the old days, when you would spot an American Robin it meant that Spring was finally here. I remember the local newspaper reporting the first sighting of a robin on the front page. These days, the robins never leave, they are here year round. Unfortunately for this bird it is -9F right now with the wind chill. He seems content on feeding on the Hawthorne berries but next year he will be heading a bit further South for warmer weather.

Family Bible

Reading glasses on the opened family Bible.

Curiosity

This is Aidan, my niece’s friend’s son. He is 10 months old and was very interested in my camera.

Fire hose

A couple of fire hoses on the side of a pumper fire truck.

Fire ladder

Looking down one of the ladders on the aerial fire truck.

Fire bell

The fire bell on the front of the aerial ladder truck at the local fire department. More photos over the next couple of days.

Liquid Soap

The evening sun was shining through the soap and lotion dispensers and casting a glowing shadow on the wall. First time using a Mist filter in Photoshop.
