Wedding aftermath

Took Emilia’s parents and aunt to the Franklin Park Conservatory. A wedding just finished up and we viewed the aftermath of the event. These once beautiful roses, so carefully picked out and arranged by the couple, now lay wilted, helplessly strapped to rented chairs. We thought about our upcoming wedding, only 5 days away and all the planning and preparation that has taken place over the past months. So much time invested in an event that lasts only a few hours. We too look forward to the aftermath.

Colors

Colorful flowers on the Ohio State University campus near The Oval. This 11 acre open oval-shaped area is a popular hang out for students in the warmer months and is one of the most endearing symbols of the university.

Vienna statue

Sometimes you can catch the light in such a way that what you photograph is different than what you are seeing. This statue was one of several in an entrance between two courtyards near Hofburg Palace in Vienna.

Budapest Railway Station Sunrise

Pulling in at sunrise into Budapest on our way to Vienna. The border guards who boarded the train to check passports were the most polite and efficient of any that we encountered. Stayed in the station for about 30 minutes before heading North.

Engagement Photo

Emilia and I went back to Schiller Park where we got engaged to take some photos. The proposal happened in February on the coldest day of the year, -20F. These photos were taken during the hottest day of the year (so far) 92F. This also marks the first time that a photo of me has been posted, and yes, I’m supposed to be blurred!

Schiller Park Squirrel

While in Schiller Park (where we got engaged back in February) to take some photos of ourselves, we came across this very tame squirrel. Evidently, we were in the way of her trying to get to some food as she passed right beside us, pausing momentarily to pose.

Calm

To me, she is showing the definition of calm, with just a hint of a Mona Lisa smile. I couldn’t decide on the color or B&W version of this photo. Click on the link at the bottom of the photo to see the 2 versions. Please leave comments on which version you like better.

Rock Art

Found this little fellow sunning himself at the Deer Valley Rock Art Center in AZ.

Chicago Bean

This is the Bean in Chicago’s Millennium Park. Officially known as the Cloud Gate, it was designed by Anish Kapoor, a British artist. By the time of its completion, the cost had skyrocketed to 23 million dollars, from the initial estimate of 6 million. Makes a nice mirror to put your makeup on, huh ladies?

Daisies by Emilia

It was bound to happen sooner or later. When you are getting married, things change in your life. Just as I make room in my life for Emilia, now there is room on this photoblog for her photos. We took a walk while attending the Hawk’s 50th Wedding Anniversary and found these beautiful daisies near Acme, PA. On a side note, Emilia will have these same flowers in her bridal bouquet.
