These demon looking creatures carved out of stone are called gargoyles. They are one of the many eerie stone figures that adorn the gutters of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. Gargoyle comes from a Latin word, meaning gullet or drain. That’s what the strange looking creatures are, they’re drainpipes. Each grotesque figure has a passageway inside that carries rainwater from the roof and out through the gargoyle’s mouth.
Even in black and white the Grand Canyon is impressive. This was taken just before arriving at Grand Canyon Village, on the Rim Trail.

Fonthill, a concrete mansion he began building in 1908 and completed two years later. Modeled to look like a castle, the mansion is now open for tours and provides a peek into his amazing life. The mansion has been designated a National Historic Landmark. They were celebrating his 150th birthday, chosed not to pay to go inside, instead roamed the grounds and admired this fabulous home.
While visiting Pennsylvania in June for my nephew’s high school graduation party, took a side trip to Washington’s Crossing. Very nice area to see where history happened. This is a statue that, ironically, is not part of the park, but is at a hotel/restaurant nearby. Lighting was interesting this day and the results turned out fairly well. The fact that the main light is not on Washington, but the 2 soldiers behind him adds some detail to the statue.
A guest at my great-nephew’s birthday party. How can you have a sad look on your face while wearing a party hat? Actually, she was only sad when the camera was pointing in her direction. Possible future Academy Award winner here!

This was taken outside Denver, Colorado on Amtrak. The scenery along this route is indescribable.
M60 Patton Main Battle Tank, VFW Post 4239, Sidney, Ohio. I pass this tank on my way to a client in the city. It was beautiful outside and decided it was time to stop and “shoot” this tank.
In 1957, it was determined that the Soviets were in the process of developing a new medium tank, the T-62, with a 115 mm gun, superior to that of the American M48 tank. In response, an M48 tank was fitted with a new engine and later with a variant of the British 105 mm L7 series gun. This new vehicle (originally designated M68) was put into production in 1959, reclassified as the M60 and entered service in 1960. Over 15,000 M60s were constructed.
This bike and scooter were hidden in the depths of the Auglaize River. The opening of the dam to lower the water level revealed the treasures. Maybe the owners will recognize their lost Christmas or birthday presents.
This is Aidan, my niece’s friend’s son. He is 10 months old and was very interested in my camera.
