The fire bell on the front of the aerial ladder truck at the local fire department. More photos over the next couple of days.
The evening sun was shining through the soap and lotion dispensers and casting a glowing shadow on the wall. First time using a Mist filter in Photoshop.
While driving around looking for lights to shoot, realized how difficult it is anymore to find a manger scene. No matter what your faith or beliefs are, it is Christmas and this is the reason for it. Celebrate and observe this time however you want, in your own way and let others celebrate it their way. Peace to all and thank you for visiting this past year.
With the over-commercialization of Christmas and the increasing trend in massive light displays, it is refreshing to see a subtle and effective display of Christmas lights. If you have to take out a second mortgage to pay your electric bill because of your light display, you went too far.
Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, Ohio. The snow storm completely covered the steps and the side lanterns cast a unique shadow from the railings onto the virgin snow. The interesting thing is that there are 2 tall floodlights that illuminate the church. I had only taken one photo when the lights suddenly turned off. It was then I was able to see the shadow in the snow. I realized that the floodlights are on a timer, but still, it was almost as if someone was helping me out with this photo.
While watching my sister’s dog, Mitzi, over the weekend, I wanted to take some shots of her. She was less than thrilled with the idea. After tracking her through the house, I cornered her on the bed, trying to get under the covers. After a few quick shots, I let her have her peace.
The sun setting in Cincinnati, Ohio with the Ohio River in the foreground. Another image from the old Fujifilm MX-700.
The obligatory fireworks shot from July 4th. Actually, I’m kind of pleased how this one came out. Submitted to Thursday Challenge.
The text on this grave marker states: Peter Sunderland, A Revolutionary Soldier, Fought at Bunker Hill. Died Aug. 1827, Aged 90 years. This would have made him 38 years old at the time of the Battle of Bunker Hill, the same age I am now. Kind of makes me ponder what I have done for my country. Thanks Peter, Happy July 4th!
Captain E. Dawson, Murdered by Indians. Oct. 1812.
Fort Amanda was originally built in the fall of 1812 by Kentucky troops under the command of Lt. Col. Robert Pogue, the fort was enlarged to almost double the original size during the spring of 1813 by Ohio militia soldiers under the command of Capt. Daniel Hosbrook. A fifth blockhouse was added during the second phase of construction as well as several cabins and storage buildings. The walls stood 11 feet above the ground.
