Wedding aftermath

Took Emilia’s parents and aunt to the Franklin Park Conservatory. A wedding just finished up and we viewed the aftermath of the event. These once beautiful roses, so carefully picked out and arranged by the couple, now lay wilted, helplessly strapped to rented chairs. We thought about our upcoming wedding, only 5 days away and all the planning and preparation that has taken place over the past months. So much time invested in an event that lasts only a few hours. We too look forward to the aftermath.

Engagement Photo

Emilia and I went back to Schiller Park where we got engaged to take some photos. The proposal happened in February on the coldest day of the year, -20F. These photos were taken during the hottest day of the year (so far) 92F. This also marks the first time that a photo of me has been posted, and yes, I’m supposed to be blurred!

Calm

To me, she is showing the definition of calm, with just a hint of a Mona Lisa smile. I couldn’t decide on the color or B&W version of this photo. Click on the link at the bottom of the photo to see the 2 versions. Please leave comments on which version you like better.

Doug

This is Doug.

Golden Anniversary

This wedding cake topper is 50 years young, just like Bob & Janet who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary. As Emilia and I look towards our own wedding in September, we rejoice in knowing that love can, and does last forever.

Lost in translation

Sometimes, English words just do not translate well. This woman was seen in a sunglass store, in Constanta, Romania, wearing a pair of pants with the words “Major Explosive” on her rear end. I could be wrong, maybe she enjoys bean burritos and is kind enough to warn people walking behind her. Or maybe she skipped her English class one day.

Girl with rose

Staring intently at the rose that was just given to her by the bride, one wonders what thoughts she is thinking. Taken recently at a friend’s wedding that Emilia and I attended.

Shark hunting

Not sure how this little bather was able to catch a man eating shark with that little net she is holding. Taken during Memorial Day weekend in 2006 at Lake Erie in Ohio.

Happy Valentine's Day

Emilia mentioned she had never shoveled snow before. So as her loving <strike>boyfriend</strike> fiancé (as of 2/15/2007) I made her wish come true on this, our first Valentine’s Day. She did very well, although much supervision was needed, from inside the house. Please note her color coordinated outfit with the snow shovel. I love her!

Sunset at Santa Monica Pier

From my 2006 train trip through the Western USA. Taken from the Santa Monica Pier, early evening. Enjoy!
