Golden Gate Bridge – Battery Spencer

This is the postcard shot that everybody has. Taken from Battery Spencer.

California Condor

Went to the Grand Canyon today and desperately wanted to see one of the famous California Condors. After 5 hours, and seeing nothing but Ravens, a walk along the Rim Trail to the El Tovar Hotel, suddenly 2 Condors appeared. Of course, I had the camera put away but managed to get this nice shot of one in full span above the American Flag.

Patience pays off!

Sunset on Hunt's Mesa

Silhouette of a Juniper tree on top of Hunt’s Mesa in Monument Valley Tribal Park.

Snow rails

I am currently traveling around the Western United States. To follow my trip, please visit http://www.travbuddy.com/mahoney.

This was taken outside Denver, Colorado on Amtrak. The scenery along this route is indescribable.

River Seine

Sunset over the River Seine in Paris. The Eiffel Tower can be seen just beyond the bridge. The northern side of the river is described as the Right Bank (Rive Droite) and the southern side as the Left Bank (Rive Gauche), because when facing the same direction that the river flows, these are the directions to the left and right.

Church shadows

Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, Ohio. The snow storm completely covered the steps and the side lanterns cast a unique shadow from the railings onto the virgin snow. The interesting thing is that there are 2 tall floodlights that illuminate the church. I had only taken one photo when the lights suddenly turned off. It was then I was able to see the shadow in the snow. I realized that the floodlights are on a timer, but still, it was almost as if someone was helping me out with this photo.

Susan, Meet Bug

Any Entomologists out there? Never seen this insect before. The Black-Eyed Susan is probably the most common of all American wildflowers. The characteristic brown, domed center is surrounded by bright yellow ray florets. The state flower of Maryland.

Ice Cream Cone

My nephew Zac enjoying the first ice cream cone of the season.

Snowy Tulip

This tulip is thinking that Spring has lost its mind. An unusual snow storm in late April.

la Tour Eiffel

My favorite photograph. This was taken from atop a moving tour bus going around a corner. I looked up, took the shot and thought, oh well, I was too close to get it. Not until I was back home and viewed it on the monitor did I realize that it was almost perfect.
